Drontal Cat is a very effective and safe product for the treatment of roundworms, hookworms and tapeworms in cats and kittens. This worming agent kills the present worms after a single administration.
Drontal Cat tablets can be given directly or with some food. The dosage of Drontal Cat depends on the body weight of your cat. As the weight can vary greatly, we offer both the Drontal Cat and the Drontal Large Cat.
Drontal Cat: 1 tablet per 4 kg of body weight.
Drontal Large Cat: 1 tablet per 6 kg of body weight.
Drontal Cat is a so called broad-spectrum deworming agent, meaning that it will work against almost all worminfections in your cat. With a single administration this medicine combats roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and several kinds of tapeworms. The active substances of Drontal Cat are pyrantel embonate and praziquantel.
Drontal Cat will NOT protect your cat against heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis), an infection that is transferred by stinging mosquito's. So when you travel with your cat in heartwom areas, such as Southern- and Eastern Europe, check if prevention of heartworm disease is indicated and choose the right medication.
Worming is of great importance: to keep your cat, yourself and your family, healthy, it is important to deworm your cat regularly. Worms can make your cat and especially your kitten seriously ill, you don't want this to happen. Depending on the kind of worm, worms make a tour through the animals body and can damage organs such as the lungs, liver and intestines, possibly leading to obstruction, diarrhea or vomiting. Worms also have an adverse effect of the animals resistance, will cause inflammation and lower the effect of a vaccination. Of course you want to protect your cat against all kind of parasitic infections, but keeping your animals free of worms is also better for the health of all the other members of the household.
It is wise to deworm all adult cat up to 4 times a year depending on the risk of infection.
